Who We Need:

 

Malwarebytes is looking for a talented JavaScript Engineer to join our Browser Extension team in our Tallinn office. We are looking for an engineer with experience building clean, reusable code in JavaScript with a focus on maintainability and scalability. An ideal candidate will have experience working directly on publicly available Chrome and Firefox addons, but a solid performing JavaScript engineer with the desire and ability to explore the unknown will be an equally great fit. We are an agile team, you’ll be able to speak directly with product owners, malware researchers and other engineering teams and in turn you’ll work directly with the QA, Customer Support and Design teams to implement our shared vision - so good communication skills are a must.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Maintain, improve and extend our existing Chrome and Firefox extensions, already relied on by over 238,000 active users and growing fast
  • Add extensions supporting more browsers and platforms
  • Be the driving force behind continually improving our web extensions
  • Give and receive constructive, professional feedback on code (pull requests)
  • Cooperate with local and international teams
  • Keep up-to-date with current ad blocking and circumvention techniques
  • Share your knowledge

 

 

Skills You’ll Need to Have:

 

  • A deep understanding of JavaScript – the ability to write pure JavaScript without reliance on frameworks is a big plus
  • Related Technical studies – (E.g. a BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline or additional training, technical certification, and/or experience)
  • Strong knowledge of basic concepts such as closures, prototypes, promises and lambdas
  • Understanding of extension scope and how the different areas of an extension are separated and communicate with each other
  • Experience with REST API’s and Authentication
  • Knowledge of Extension storage options and Indexed Databases
  • Completely comfortable with Git and GitHub and Peer Reviews
  • An understanding of the differences with developing for Windows and Linux systems
  • Experience with Python or the tenacity to learn and understand what our supporting Python scripts do
  • You are very comfortable troubleshooting and debugging complex systems

 

Skills That Are Nice to Have:

 

  • Knowledge of Chrome extension development is an advantage
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (Java, C#)
  • Working knowledge of agile methods (Scrum)
  • Experience developing for Safari
  • Knowledge of Bloom Filters
  • Experience using Semantic-UI framework and jQuery
  • Security best-practices know how
